This is not an entirely serious post: I am deciding which dark lord deserves the most publicity- Lord Voldemort, or Sauron the Deceiver.

Delete1)You're forgetting that people are so afraid of Voldy, they dare not speak his name
2)You're forgetting that he killed countless amounts of people and is perhaps the most powerful sorcerer the world has seen so far
3)Even Voldemort's past has been bad- was the heir of Slytherin, and opened the Chamber Of Secrets that killed loadsa people
4)Voldemort's soldiers are the only reason that Voldemort returned, and do not forget that on his return Voldemort also had dementors
5)Voldemorts most trusted servant is actually Bellatrix, who despite what her last name suggests is one of the most feare people other than Voldy himself. Still the guy in that picture is very powerful- didn't he betray his friends; something that perhaps is the strongest power of all
6) Don't forget that Voldemort split hisoul into loadsa tiny pieces and hid them in random places. A bit more impressive than that other guy. And Harry Potter has the ultimate defense of all; love(getting a bit soppy but oh well)
7)Voldemort's wand was the most powerful the world has ever seen. The Elder wand was given to some random guy by death, and it can single handedly win major wars. That's why it is destroyed in the last book.
8)Voldemort is way more famous than this other guy.
9)In the poll you gave the option of Darth Sidious, but youu did not mention him here. Biased?

DeleteWhat do you mean, this Other Guy? Sauron is just as famous. and Sauron is one of the Maiar- spirits sent to help the Valar to win the war against Morgoth, the Dark lord of the time. Sauron is certainly not as powerful as Morgoth, but he is way more ambitious... a bit better than a simple human wizard who ripped his soul apart, hmm?
DeleteI forgot to say that, in the book, people are scared of saying Sauron's real name too. Sauron means "The Necromancer" in the Tongue of Men, but his real name is only ever uttered bu Gandalf the white- at a terrible price.

DeleteErr, actually there are loadsa Basilisks. There are dragons- Goblet Of Fire. There are werewolves- Professor Lupin. There are undead- some people choose to stay behind as ghosts (nearly-headless Nick). So you can't really argue your case.
